Abstract:

Speech impaired people are facing problem of communication
with normal people. In this proposed system build the communication gap between
the speech impaired people and the normal people.For communicating speech
impaired people just type the input text characters from their own finger,without
using any hand gesture.Input characters are processed by microcontroller into
valuable text format and it displayed in LCD.Text which is send to voice module
through the serial communication. Then the voice module converts the text into
speech. Finally output will be heared through the speaker as voice.

INTRODUCTION:

Proposed
method more useful for speech impaired people to
communicating with normal people without any hand gesture. Hand gesture system
is used to convert the text into voice .hand gesture is recognized by flex
sensor. But the system only recognize 24 out of 26,accuracy is about 90%1.It
recognize the finger gesture by using Polygon approximation method(PAM).It successfully
recognize only up to 22 gesture2.for gesture recognition need to store 260
characters in database.3. Instead of using hand gesture to communicate with
normal people. By using this method hand gesture recognition is eliminated,
because so many problems in that system of recognizing the input and also the
output also inaccurate for sometimes used to solve that problem.

EXISTING
AND PROPOSED SYSTEM:

Existing
System:

In
my existing paper ISL (Indian Standard Language) used to build communication
with speech impaired people and the normal people by using hand gesture. Hand
gesture of ISL is fed as input to microcontroller and voice module convert the
input text as voice output In this method hand gesture is made with only one
hand and also input words only up to 8 words.

b)    
Proposed
System:

In
the proposed method which is input will be taken as text from the hand glove
like keyboard. Input will be send to the microcontroller in the form of text.
Microcontroller process the input then it send it into the LCD as text output
and voice module which convert the text to speech (TTS).Speech output will
produce the speaker as voice.

Disadvantage
of my existing paper is by using hand gesture to recognize the character input.
It limits only to recognize 8 words.Proposed system is used to avoid the hand
gesture.It consist of data glove,microcontroller,voice module,power supply,LCD,speaker
for communication purpose. The flow diagram for my proposed system is shown in
Figure1.

glove which is mainly used for the input purpose.It like cloth type glove and
it consist of input characters to enter by the speech impaired people for the
communication.

Microcontroller:

At89s52
is an efficient and cost effective microcontroller.It used to process the input
from the hand glove.It generates the meaning full text and sends it to the
voice module.

c.      
Voice
module:

Voice
module which accepts the input converts the text into corresponding speech.

d.     
Speaker:

Speaker
which produces voice as the output. It more useful for the speech impaired
people for the communication purpose.

CONCLUSION:

So
the proposed method is useful for the communication between speech impaired
people and the normal people. They no need to communicate through the hand
gesture of sign language. In this proposed system used hand glove which is act
as the input module to express their thoughts to communicate with the
elimination of hand gesture. Because sometimes recognition of hand gesture is
become inaccurate. This method of communication is simple and efficient method
to all.
