This chapter focuses on the methodology and the procedures adopted by the investigator. The methodology of research encompasses the researchers overall plans for obtaining answers to research questions and it spells out the strategies that the researcher adopts to develop the information that is accurate, objective and interpretable. It is the science of studying how research is done scientifically and a way to solve the research systematically. It involves a series of procedure in which the researcher starts from initial identification of the problem to its conclusion. The aim of this study to evaluate the effectiveness of domestic skills training on mental wellbeing is to emphasis the importance of behavioral management techniques to the subjects in PRS to bring out changes in activity of daily living. Nurses can empower themselves with this technique to improve ADL among subjects with mental illness.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Pre experimental study to assess the effectiveness of domestic skills training on well being among subjects with mental illness attending Psychiatric Rehabilitation Service in NIMHANS, Bengaluru.AIM OF THE STUDYTo assess the effectiveness of domestic skills training on well being among subjects with mental illness attending PRS, NIMHANS, Bengaluru.OBJECTIVES:1. Socio demographic Variable: age, gender, marital status, education, Type of family, Family income, Type of mental illness, duration of illness, experience of attending PRS.RESEARCH METHODOLOGYResearch approach: QuantitativeResearch design: Pre experimental study (one group pre test- post test)In this design a single experimental group was selected who have been referred to Domestic skills section and mental well being was measured before the intervention. The demonstration was done by a researcher and return demonstration by the study participants with behavioral management techniques used. Then well being was determined by comparing pre test and post test and follow up after the specific intervention. The pictorial representation of the research design is shown.
