What fast food has many harms for people

What is fast food? Fast food is characterized by quick, easy
accessible and cheap food alternatives to home cooked meals, according to
National Institutes of Health (NIH). Fast food leads to high saturated fat,
salt, sugar and calories. Also, it is easy to prepare. That’s why, many people prefer
to eat fast food. Even so, some people think that fast foods and drinks should
be banned due to the fact that fast food has many harms for people such as,
obesity and diabetes. As mater of fact, it is a good idea to forbid the sale of
unhealthy foods and drinks due to health problems and addiction.

                The
first tremendous cause for banning the sale of unhealthy foods and drinks is
health problems. Above all, it is obvious that unhealthy foods and drinks bring
about weight gain. Also, fast foods have low food price and is easily
accessible. This is another reason why people eat fast food. To exemplify,
students eat fast food every day. Currie et. al. (2009) claim that new students
who start to study high school have higher cost with regard to that they have
to stay in school premises during the school day and fast food restaurants
which near the school affect ninth graders. As it can be seen above, fast food
and obesity have direct proportional relationships. Moreover, a critical
problem brought about by unhealthy foods and drinks is the damages tooth enamel.
Fast food causes tooth decay owing to the fact that fast foods and drinks contain
a lot of sugar. The harmful bacteria in the mouth are fed to sugar and produce
acid. This acid destroys the minerals that make the teeth look bright and
protected. As a result of these, eating fast food can cause loss of teeth. Also,
the protective materials, colorants and chemicals contained in fast foods and
drinks bring about color change in the teeth. In brief, health problems are
affected badly by fast foods and drinks.

                Another
significant reason why unhealthy foods and drinks should be banned is addiction.
First and foremost psychological dimension of addiction can be given as a potential
risk triggered by unhealthy foods and drinks. According to Kuijer et. al. (2015),
by looking at a diathesis stress model, relationships chocolate cakes with
guilt would merely be connected to fewer degree of perceived behaviour control,
nutrition eating behaviours and higher significance selecting food based on
mood under circumstances conditions: in other words, remaining under high
levels of stress or high depression. As it can be seen from this source, fast
food has many effects psychological dimension of addiction. Another significant
matter for banning unhealthy foods and drinks is the fact that it leads to
physical dimension of addiction. Fast foods have different type of carbohydrates
and those carbohydrates bring about weight gain, acne on people’s skin. Weight gain
is more important for physical dimension because of the fact that people’s physical
activities begin to be limited and they become sad and they continue to eat.  All those reasons bring about physical addiction.
To sum up, unhealthy foods and drinks should be banned due to addiction.

                Nevertheless,
some people argue that banning is not a solution as it is against freedom of
choice. People can learn how to make unhealthy eating decisions. People have to
learn information about food nutritional quality and healthiness. As cited by Bruce
(2016), Hare (2011) claim that, a person to withstand tasteful but unhealthy
foods while predominantly choosing nutritious foods which might have fewer
taste are necessary by healthy food choice. Helping them choose nutritious
foods can be given important for obesity and lifelong health. Irrespective of
age, it is required to people know of nutrition and foods healthiness. It is
clearly seen that people who know which foods are healthy can better choice
about nutritious foods and it is necessary to people get trained about choosing
foods. It might be true that it is a good idea to people get trained about
choosing foods. However, it should be noted that people can not control
themselves to eat unhealthy foods despite the education choosing foods they
receive. Currie et. al. (2009) suggested the main reason why fast food and
obesity related each other is tempting consumers with self-control problems. This
means that self-control is unavoidable problem. There are many public service
ads for raising awareness to unhealthy foods, but people do not become
conscious to unhealthy food and continue to eat these foods. All in all, sale
of unhealthy foods and drinks should be banned because of unconsciousness.

                Taking
everything intro consideration, sale of unhealthy foods and drinks should be
banned because of becoming problems about health and can not control themselves
to eat fast food. Fast food is not beneficial for people and if they continue
to eat those foods, they continue to have problems about them. In my view,
people should do research foods and choose foods which is the best for them.
